Jimmy Kimmel Live: 50 celebrities take shots for Guillermo’s 50th birthday
By Matt Moore
Jimmy Kimmel Live! celebrated Guillermo’s 50th birthday on the show last night. It was a star-studded event that may have set the record for most tequila shots seen on television.
Guillermo Rodriguez started off as Jimmy Kimmel Live!‘s parking lot attendant. He made his on-camera debut in 2005, playing a caterer promoting his tell-all book from the set of a Michael Jackson music video. Since then, he has become Jimmy Kimmel’s sidekick and has covered major events like the Oscars, NBA Finals, and Super Bowl.
It hasn’t been an easy year to celebrate birthdays or any other milestones. There is no doubt that the pandemic canceled any plans Kimmel may have had for throwing Guillermo a 50th birthday blowout. Fans will remember that Kimmel’s own 50th birthday was quite the event.
So Kimmel did the next best thing, calling in favors from his famous friends for a virtual celebration toasting Guillermo. Check out the video below as everyone from Mike Tyson to Helen Mirren raise a glass to late night’s most lovable sidekick:
It was nice to see friends of the show like Jennifer Aniston, Sarah Silverman, Ray Romano, and The Killers join in the celebration. And former Jimmy Kimmel Live! guest hosts like Dua Lipa, Anthony Anderson, Chris Pratt, and Kristen Bell also appeared in Guillermo’s tribute.
Other famous faces in the video included actor-turned-tequila-tycoon George Clooney, one of Guillermo’s favorite soccer players Chicharito, Luke Skywalker himself Mark Hamil, and Snoop Dogg.
Some celebrities were a bit more of a surprise. Who would have guessed that Baby Yoda would be taking a shot for Guillermo? But of course, the biggest surprise was saved for last as Matt Damon, AKA “Actor,” closed out the tribute by taking a shot at Kimmel rather than of tequila.

Jimmy Kimmel’s monologue last night mentioned how well-known Guillermo has become for bringing tequila to events like the Oscars. So much so that other outlets have ripped off the bit. But as his tribute video proved, Hollywood stars still prefer to drink with Guillermo over anyone else.
