Kellyanne Conway thinks Kate McKinnon’s SNL impression of her should be happier

Donald Trump advisor Kellyanne Conway critiques Kate McKinnon’s SNL impersonation.
Kate McKinnon played a prominent role during SNL’s election coverage due to her portrayal of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, helping to earn her a Critics’ Choice Award, but more recently she’s garnered attention for her impression of Kellyanne Conway, Donald Trump’s campaign manager-turned-counselor to the new president, starring in a Chicago-inspired musical number in the most recent episode. Conway may have missed the exuberant sketch because when asked by the Hollywood Reporter about McKinnon’s take on her, she responded that the comedian should make her “a little bit more happy.”
“I’m known for being much more happy than maybe the character sometimes is,” she said in a brief video portion of the interview. “I liked the ‘Walking on Sunshine.’ The ‘Kellyanne Conway’s Day Off.‘ That was much more me.”
The skit in question featured Conway being continuously interrupted during an eventful day off to go back on CNN to defend her boss’ latest Twitter rant. Her critique of the performance is rather tame compared to Trump’s constant complaints about Alec Baldwin’s portrayal of him on the show. She previously praised McKinnon’s impression of her on Twitter, writing that the SNL star “has me down.”

“Kate McKinnon clearly sees the road to the future runs through me and not Hillary,” Conway added.
In THR’s extensive profile of her, Conway also discussed her widely mocked inauguration outfit, her use of the phrase “alternative facts,” and why she refused to take on the role of press secretary in the Trump administration that was eventually assumed by Sean Spicer.
Though Conway admitted that she was relishing taking on a more behind-the-scenes role in the White House, she continued to appear on camera throughout the first week of Trump’s presidency, making headlines with the use of the alternative facts label, and for her quick dismissal of the Women’s March protest.
She also took to Twitter Saturday morning to praise Trump for his executive action barring refugees from several Muslim countries, writing that “he’s just getting started.” The move has caused outrage across the globe, sparking protests in several major U.S. airports after hundreds of people, including green card holders, were detained by federal officials across the country. A federal judge has since placed an emergency stay on deportations for refugees and immigrants with valid visas following a lawsuit filed by the ACLU. However, that only applies to those that had already arrived or were in transit to the U.S., and not those who wish to travel to the U.S. in the near-future.
