TBS’ new comedy People of Earth led by The Daily Show alum Wyatt Cenac has been renewed for a second season.

TBS recently announced that it has renewed People of Earth for Season 2, along with Search Party, which will also be entering its second season. The alien abduction comedy stars former The Daily Show correspondent Wyatt Cenac, and is executive produced by Conan O’Brien under his Conaco banner.

The show’s 10-episode first season debuted this fall to favorable reviews from critics and solid ratings, averaging 775,000 viewers in Nielsen’s live-plus-same day ratings, according to Variety. That number grows to 4.3 million viewers in delayed viewing across all platforms. People of Earth stars Cenac as a journalist who skeptically investigates an alien abduction support group, only to soon realize that he may have had his own close encounter.

The sitcom co-stars SNL alum Ana Gasteyer, Oscar Nunez (The Office), Luka Jones, Brian Huskey and Alice Wutterland. The cast minus Cenac recently visited the TBS late-night talk show Conan to discuss their costume woes, and the challenges of shooting sex scenesO’Brien serves as executive producer along with long-time friend Greg Daniels, best known for producing The Office and Parks and Recreation.

Meanwhile, Search Party follows a 20-something Brooklyn hipster played by Arrested Development‘s Alia Shawkat who convinces her boyfriend and two friends to help her find a missing college acquaintance. The dark comedy had a binge-style release, airing two episodes a night for a week beginning on Nov. 21, averaging more than 1.1 million viewers per episode across all platforms, and continuing the network’s unconventional approach to scheduling following the 25-hour, 10-episode marathon run of the first season of Angie Tribeca last January.

People of Earth and Search Party join TBS’ other recently renewed comedies The Detour, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, Wrecked and the aforementioned Angie Tribeca, in addition to Conan and American Dad! Both show’s second seasons will contain 10 episodes. Per Deadline, Season 3 of Angie Tribeca is slated to premiere in spring 2017, with the second seasons of Search Party and Wrecked to debut in the summer, while People of Earth will return later in the year.

“Twelve months ago we set out to reimagine the TBS brand and its place in the TV landscape. To end 2016 with  all six shows returning is humbling,” said Brett Weitz, executive vice president of original programming for  TBS. “The amazing teams behind People of Earth and  have created complex, funny characters and crafted  truly distinctive stories. Renewing both shows is the perfect end to a transformative year for TBS.”
