NBC will produce Snapchat shows for SNL, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and The Voice.

NBCUniversal is partnering with Snapchat to produce original episodes exclusively for the app from some of their most popular shows, including SNL, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and The Voice. Variety reports that the multiyear deal also includes an ad partnership.

The Voice will be the first of the trio to debut a five-episode short-form series for Snapchat, appropriately titled The Voice on Snapchat, debuting on Monday, Aug. 22. It will feature the singing competition show’s coaches for Season 11, including newcomers Alicia Keys and Miley Cyrus, as well as returning mentors Blake Shelton and Adam Levine. The episodes will also contain performance videos from fans, who can make their submissions starting Monday at voicesnaps.com. They will then be reviewed by the coaches, with the best ones getting a chance to appear on the reality program’s broadcast premiere on Sept. 19 on NBC.

E! News will debut a weekly pop culture series called The Rundown on Sept. 8 that will include segments exclusive to Snapchat, hosted by Erin Lim. The cable network is owned by the media conglomerate, along with Bravo, NBC, USA, Telemundo, and various other entertainment, sports and news channels.

Other upcoming content will be produced for The Tonight Show, SNL, and other shows from the network’s news, sports and entertainment divisions that are well-suited for Snapchat. NBC has already been working in conjunction with Snapchat throughout the 2016 Rio Olympics for a channel that features live stories from Buzzfeed. NBCU invested $200 million in the media company last summer.

“NBCUniversal is committed to tapping into its talent, resources and reach to be the leader in delivering mobile-first premium content,” said Ron Lamprecht, NBCU’s executive VP of business development and digital distribution. “From entertainment to news and sports, NBCUniversal has an unparalleled lineup and Snapchat is the perfect partner to help us reach millions of fans where they are every day.”

Lamprecht also told the Wall Street Journal that only original vertical videos will be seen on Snapchat, and not repurposed TV clips that are already posted on YouTube and Facebook, but he did admit that some of the content may eventually be used on other platforms as well.

Added Nick Bell, VP of content at Snapchat:

"“Together with NBCUniversal, we believe there is a huge creative and commercial opportunity around mobile-first programming and are excited to bring these future formats to our community.”"
