Here are this week’s late night TV guests that fans should be excited to see

Late night TV is back this week and ready to start 2021 off on a high note. Based on the lineup of guests scheduled this week, it should be that much easier.

It has been a while since fans saw anything new from The Late Show with Stephen ColbertThe Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and the rest of late night TV. The holiday hiatus provided hosts and their staff a much-needed break.

But it’s back to work this week. With the exception of Conan, there are new shows across the board as late night looks to kick off the new year in style.

This week’s guest lineup features actors from some of the biggest film franchises in entertainment, influential politicians, and a few of music’s top acts. Here are Last Night On’s picks for the five guests fans should be most excited to see.

Late night TV guests to watch: Amy Poehler

It’s a reunion scheduled for Late Night with Seth Meyers to start the week. Amy Poehler will visit with her former “Weekend Update” co-host on Monday, Jan. 4.

Seth Meyers and Poehler spent years together at the “Weekend Update” desk and quickly became very popular with fans thanks to their chemistry. Their segment “Really!?!” was especially well-received and has been revived multiple times on Late Night, both with and without Amy.

Poehler is a producer of Nate, the comedy special from Natalie Palamides that launched on Netflix last month. Expect that to come up during her conversation with Meyers on top of reflecting on how she has handled the pandemic and the pause on the entertainment industry.

Late night TV guest to watch: Rosario Dawson

Actress Rosario Dawson had an exciting end to 2020 and things are only going to get crazier. She’ll discuss all that and more on The Late Late Show with James Corden on Monday, Jan. 4.

Dawson made her long-awaited debut in the Star Wars universe as Ahsoka Tano during season two of The Mandalorian on Disney+. Dawson was a popular fancast for the Jedi who first appeared in the Clone Wars animated series. Fans were more than happy with Dawson’s performance and so was Disney–they’re giving Dawson her own series Ahsoka.

On The Late Late Show, expect Dawson to offer her reaction to the positive reviews she received for The Mandalorian. She probably can’t say much about Ahsoka but Star Wars fans will surely be excited to get any piece of news from the star.

Late night TV guest to watch: Elizabeth Olsen

Another hero with a  Disney+ series comes to late night TV this week. Catch WandaVision star Elizabeth Olsen on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday, Jan. 5.

Olsen reprises her role as Wanda Maximoff, AKA the Scarlet Witch, from the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the Disney+ series premiering Jan. 15. She’s joined by Paul Bettany as Vision who fans last saw in Avengers: Infinity War.

If you’re an MCU fan, then you’ve seen the trailers for WandaVision and know that it will be unlike anything else we’ve seen so far from Marvel. Don’t expect Olsen to tell Jimmy Kimmel too many secrets about the show but she should add to the show’s hype.

Late night TV guest to watch: Anya Taylor-Joy

One of the breakout stars of 2020 comes to late night TV this week. See actress Anya Taylor-Joy on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Tuesday, Jan. 5.

Taylor-Joy started gaining attention after her starring role in the 2015 film The Witch. She followed that up with roles in SplitGlass, and Emma.

But it was this past year that things went to the next level for Taylor-Joy. Her Netflix miniseries The Queen’s Gambit was a massive hit and became one of the most popular titles on the streaming service.

Stephen Colbert will probably ask Taylor-Joy the same chess questions she’s heard in other interviews. However, there is a good chance that Colbert will also bring something new to the table and help Taylor-Joy win over even more fans with her Late Show appearance.

Late night TV guest to watch: Tessa Thompson

Close out your week of late night TV with Tessa Thompson. The actress joins Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday, Jan. 7.

Thompson has a number of projects worth discussing when she chats with Jimmy Kimmel. It was recently announced that she will return for Creed III alongside Michael B. Jordan, she’s expected to appear in the upcoming Marvel film Thor: Love and Thunder, and her film Passing will premiere at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival.

But expect most of the conversation to be about Sylvie’s Love, a film starring and produced by Thompson that was released on Amazon on Dec. 23. The film has received excellent reviews with special attention given to Thompson’s performance.
