Big name celebrities will be filling in as host of The Late Late Show covering for James Corden’s absence.

James Corden has made himself quite a few Hollywood friends since taking over as host of The Late Late Show. The comedian has called in a favor with some of those famous friends for what will be an entertaining week in late night television.

Corden is out promoting his role in the upcoming film Cats. And while the film may be getting more attention for its visuals than substance, Corden will likely once again prove he belongs in any big screen musical.

And it is another movie musical that will keep Corden away from The Late Late Show desk for a time. Corden is preparing to film The Prom, a movie version of the popular musical that will also feature Meryl Streep and Nicole Kidman.

To cover his duties at The Late Late Show, Corden has turned to some fan-favorite celebrities to serve as guest hosts. The special episodes begin on Dec. 9. Keep reading to see who will be taking over The Late Late Show.

Alicia Keys

Singer-songwriter Alicia Keys gets things started on Monday, Dec. 9. Keys has been a guest on The Late Late Show couch. She has also appeared on Carpool Karaoke, the television spin-off of James Corden’s popular segment.

Keys is of course no stranger to taking the stage and controlling a room. But the multi-talented performer also has hosting experience having hosted the 61st Grammy Awards earlier this year.

Chance the Rapper

Chance the Rapper was not joking when he told Jimmy Kimmel that he was staring a comedy career. The rapper revealed that he has tried his hand at stand-up comedy a few times and now he’ll be making the jump to late night host.

Chance already hosted Saturday Night Live this season so it will be another major comedy accomplishment when he takes over The Late Late Show. He may be the one most likely to reprise his guest host role.

Harry Styles

Harry Styles will be following Chance the Rapper yet again this year. Styles was the second performer to pull double duty as host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live this season. Chance was the first and now Styles follows the rapper again as guest host. Expect his faithful fans to make Styles’ episode one of the highest rated.

Styles is friendly with James Corden, having played on the comedian’s celebrity dodgeball team against former First Lady Michelle Obama. Styles should be at significant less risk of injury behind the Late Late Show desk. This will be his second time filling in for Corden after making his debut in Dec. 2017.  His turn as SNL host proved that Styles is more than capable of being the star of a comedy show.

Melissa McCarthy

Melissa McCarthy will return to the show that makes her dreams come true. The actress is another big name talent that will be asked to bring buzz to The Late Late Show.

McCarthy’s career began with stand-up comedy and improv so she may be the most natural when it comes to hosting a late night show. Like the others, she has experience on Saturday Night Live that should come in handy.

Jeff Goldblum

The most intriguing and mysterious man in show business will also be coming to The Late Late Show. Jeff Goldblum will take a turn in what may be the most surprising but highly anticipated name on the list.

Goldblum comes with a devoted fanbase that love the actor for what he does off screen just as much as he does on film. Goldblum on The Late Late Show will also be a nice way to plug his Disney+ documentary series The World According to Jeff Goldblum. This episode has the highest chance of going sideways in the best possible way.

Ken Jeong

Ken Jeong will also be there to help out James Corden and keep the Late Late Show ship sailing. Jeong has been a guest multiple times in the past so he should have some familiarity with operations at the CBS late night show.

Jeong can currently be seen as a panelist on the singing competition series The Masked Singer. No doubt some of his fans from the Fox show will follow him over to The Late Late Show.
