James Corden has a very busy schedule ahead of him as the Late Late Show hosts announces two new projects.

Being a late night host requires a lot of talents. Comedy writing, performing, interviewing guests are all tools of the trade for a host. The Late Late Show‘s James Corden has proven he checks off all those boxes but he’s not satisfied with just being a television host.

Coming off his turn hosting the Tony Awards, Corden revealed two more upcoming projects that will keep him very, very busy. The talents that have made him a successful host of The Late Late Show will come in handy with his new gigs.

First up, it was announced that Corden was cast in The Prom. The musical will launch on Netflix and will be directed and produced by Ryan Murphy of American Horror Story fame.

The original musical debuted in 2016 and was written by Matthew Sklar, Chad Beguelin, and Bob Martin. It centers on four Broadway stars who are past their prime traveling to a conservative Indiana town after news that a lesbian student was banned from bringing her girlfriend to prom. The former stars are eager to take on a charity case while also enjoying the benefit of being back in the spotlight.

Corden will play the role of Barry Glickman in an absolutely stacked cast. Joining Corden are Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, Awkwafina, Ariana Grande, Keegan-Michael Key, and Andrew Rannells. The film is expected to be released in 2020.

Then Corden shared an behind-the-scenes look at a rehearsal for Gavin and Stacey. Corden was a writer and star of the British sitcom that originally ran from 2008-2010. Now the popular show is returning for a Christmas special later this year.

Reviving the beloved sitcom for a Christmas special will put a lot of responsibility on Corden’s shoulders as a creator, writer, and star. Gavin and Stacey was a huge deal in Corden’s career and put him on the path to hosting The Late Late Show.

The Prom is scheduled to begin filming in December. That could work in Corden’s favor as late night shows typically take plenty of time off during the end of the year. When the film does get released in 2020, you can be sure that Corden will take full advantage of things and have his Prom costars on The Late Late Show.

Balancing a workload like this is nothing new to Corden, having worked on several different types of projects all while hosting his CBS show. But that doesn’t make it any less impressive especially considering the hype surrounding both The Prom and Gavin and Stacey.
