Jimmy Kimmel invited some celebrity friends to help him mark the halfway point of President Trump’s first term in office.

Late night is probably the last place anyone should look to find President Donald Trump being honored. To varying degrees, every host has taken shots and the president and made him a major nightly punchline. Jimmy Kimmel Liveis no exception so it was curious to see Monday night’s show called a “Halftime Tribute to Trump.”

If you’ve watched Jimmy Kimmel the past two years then you knew that title was tongue-in-cheek. After all, this is the comedian who thinks that First Lady Melania Trump is happier away from her husband  and has called for Trump staff members to be fired.

And anytime Kimmel has something big planned, you can be sure he will call in some favors from his celebrity friends. No other late night host seems to have the connections or personal relationships that Kimmel has with so many of his show’s guests.

Saturday Night Live alumni Fred Armisen and Bobby Moynihan joined Kimmel along with comedians Jeff Ross and Anthony Atamanuik for this Mount Rushmore sketch. It’s not often that Armisen and Moynihan are playing the straight-men in a sketch but they don’t have much choice but to take a backseat to Atamanuik’s fantastic Trump impression.

The Trump brothers have been a favorite target of Kimmel’s since Donald Trump entered the presidential race. Kimmel has even found himself in a back-and-forth on Twitter with Donald Trump, Jr. or DJTJ as Kimmel has tried so many times to make stick.

A major issue Kimmel has with DJTJ and Eric Trump, besides their apparent lack of morality or intelligence in Kimmel’s eyes, is their history with trophy hunting. So for this sketch he called in his very good friend Will Arnett and Paul Scheer to play the lion-hunting brothers. It is a much different take on the Trumps but it hard to parody the two any better than Mikey Day and Alex Moffat on Saturday Night Live.

It is fairly impressive(?) that so much material has come out of President Trump’s administration in only two years. It certainly feels longer than that considering the media and late night coverage dedicated to the topics. Whether President Trump makes it two more years or not, we can be sure that Jimmy Kimmel Live! will have another celebration ready no matter what happens.
