Jimmy Kimmel thinks Melania is happier away from Trump

Jimmy Kimmel examined side-by-side footage to determine if First Lady Melania Trump may be enjoying her time abroad a little more than when at home with President Donald Trump.

While here in the U.S. news (and late night) continues to be focused on the Brett Kavanaugh story, Melania Trump has been making headlines with her trip through Africa. She has visited countries including Ghana, Kenya, and Egypt. Much was made not only about the politics of her trip but also her fashion choices.

It’s no secret that the Trump family is a favorite target of Jimmy Kimmel. He’s had plenty of fun at the expense of Don Jr. and Eric Trump as well as Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner. Last night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live took an admittedly “unscientific” look at Trump’s wife Melania.

As you can see in the video below, Kimmel first zeroed in on the helmet worn by Melania. Whether intentional or not, the decision to wear it hammered home Kimmel’s common refrain of just how out of touch the Trump family can be. Remember the “I really don’t care” jacket she wore? Kimmel then went a step further to see if Melania was in better spirits while away from the White House:

We get to see some classic clips of the First Lady looking less than thrilled over the past two years. There are shots of her at the State of the Union, Easter celebration, and even meeting with Pope Francis. But none of that seemed to bring the joy she showed on her first solo trip abroad.

If Kimmel’s analysis is accurate, we can probably expect to see Melania traveling to many other far, far off places. Without her husband there to take the spotlight, she seems ready to shine. But maybe it’s best to rethink the next hat she picks out to wear.
