6. Huell

Big Huell first came in Season 4 of Breaking Bad as Saul Goodman’s personal bodyguard. That follows an incident stemming from Mike threatening to break Saul’s legs. Wanting to avoid such a fate, Saul would hire Huell to accompany him everywhere to protect him. If you know Huell, then you know he’s a rather robust man, so hiring him as a bodyguard was a smart call by Saul.

Better Call Saul would later reveal that Saul (Jimmy McGill) has known Huell for years. Apparently the first time Saul hired Huell wasn’t as a bodyguard, but as a witness for him in his trial with his brother Chuck. Saul had Huell plant a charged battery in Chuck’s pocket, to later expose his condition as being a mental illness. During the trial, Saul/Jimmy revealed this to the court, and Huell was willing to testify as much on the stand — though he didn’t need to.

Interestingly enough, Huell is very much smaller on Better Call Saul compared to his size on Breaking Bad. That’s because his actor Lavell Crawford has lost tons of weight since being on the show. But because this is a prequel, that means that the Huell that we’re seeing now will eventually gain some weight. It’s weird how we’re doing this thing backwards.
