Natalie Portman, Miles Teller read Mean Tweets in Oscars 2017 edition
By Hector Cruz
Jimmy Kimmel brought his “Mean Tweets” segment to the Oscars, featuring Academy Award-nominated winners like Emma Stone, Natalie Portman and Casey Affleck.
Jimmy Kimmel brought several staples of his late-night show with him during his time hosting the Academy Awards Sunday night, including his continued feud with actor Matt Damon, and his popular “Mean Tweets” segment where celebrities read insults directed to them by Twitter users. The Oscars edition was relatively tame in comparison to past videos in the series, but there were still a few good zingers aimed at the likes of Miles Teller and Jeff Bridges.
Kimmel introduced the bit by offering to “acknowledge those who push us down; the internet trolls who use their words to keep us grounded day after day, night after night.”
The first two directed at Natalie Portman, who missed the ceremony due to her pregnancy, and Ryan Gosling were fairly complimentary, with the La La Land actor being told to “go f*ck yourself” over his “perfect bone structure and kind eyes.” But things heated up from there, with Samuel L. Jackson reading a tweet that suggested he had “resting fart face,” while Felicity Jones lookalike Eddie Redmayne was referred to as the vomit-inducing “scum between my toes.”
“Tanner raised his arms and my dad looks at his armpit hair and says ‘You look like you have Whoopi Goldberg in a headlock,'” read a tweet about The View co-host.
