Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel roasted Matt Damon by mercilessly mocking “We Bought a Zoo,” and the box-office flop “The Great Wall.”

The long-running feud between Jimmy Kimmel and Matt Damon came to a head Sunday night at the 2017 Oscars where the event’s host wasted no time in ribbing his pretend nemesis during the show’s opening monologue where he referred to the actor as a “dumb ass” for his decision to star in The Great Wall instead of the Academy Award-nominated Manchester by the Sea, which he produced.

“I’ve known Matt so long, when I first met Matt, I was the fat one.” Kimmel joked after pledging to “bury the hatchet” with Damon as a symbol of bringing unity to a divided nation.

“He’s a selfish person, those of you who’ve worked with him know this,” he continued, though he commended him for giving the lead role in Manchester by the Sea to Best Actor winner Casey Affleck instead of himself. However, Kimmel couldn’t help himself, and went on to mock Damon for opting to star in a “Chinese ponytail movie instead,” referring to The Great Wall, which “went on to lose $80 million,” according to the host.

“Smart move, dumb ass,” he said.

Later in the show, Kimmel “paid tribute” to his long-time enemy in a video where he sarcastically praised Damon’s work in the film We Bought a Zoo before he and Ben Affleck took to the stage to present the award for Best Original Screenplay.

“The first time I discovered We Bought a Zoo was at a multiplex in Burbank, believe it or not,” Kimmel explained during a screening of the movie. “The theater was completely empty. And it was magic. It was like it was just me and Matt and the animals.”

He went on to mock the film’s repetitive dialogue, which “shows you how he’s able to hear words and then repeat them back.”

“He bought a zoo, and he made it work,” Kimmel continued. “That’s the thing about Matt, you know, he has almost no discernible talent, but he works.”

But the trolling didn’t end there. The announcer got in on the fun by announcing Affleck and Damon as “two-time Academy Award winner Ben Affleck, and guest.”

“You know, it’s like plus one,” Affleck said to a peeved Damon.

The roast continued as the orchestra played everytime Damon opened his mouth.

“My God, you gotta be kidding me,” Damon yelled over the music. “What is with the music? I’m just presenting, why are you playing me off?”

The camera then panned down to reveal that Kimmel was conducting the orchestra. “Wrap it up, we want to go home!” he shouted.

Kimmel refused to let up even during a bit where he surprised a group of Hollywood tourists by letting them into the theaters where the Oscars was taking place, imploring them to “ignore that jerk behind” Casey Affleck, referring to Damon. He was seated in back of the Manchester by the Sea actor, who was also mocked by Kimmel for looking like a vagrant.

The trolling may have been revenge for Damon’s actions at last year’s Emmy Awards, which Kimmel also hosted, where he escalated their fake feud by mocking his loss to Last Week Tonight with John Oliver in the late-night category.

“You must be really bummed out,” he said after the result was announced. “You lost, and now you gotta stand out here for the rest of the night in front of everybody… when you probably just wanna go home and curl up and cry. Can we cheer Jimmy up? He’s a big loser! Big round of applause.”

While Kimmel’s constant mocking of Damon was one of the highlights of the show, the big moment of the night came at the end of the ceremony when La La Land was mistakenly awarded the Best Picture Oscar instead of Moonlight, leading to plenty of people on Twitter to joke that perhaps Damon had something to do with the mishap, though it would have been more appropriate had his film and fellow nominee Manchester by the Sea somehow been involved in the confusion.

Jimmy Kimmel Live returns tonight at 11:35 p.m. on ABC.
