Late-night TV has lost one of it best punchlines when Congress voted to expel Representative George Santos. Jimmy Kimmel Live! gave a fond farewell to the disgraced Republican on Monday night.

Santos burst onto the scene for all the wrong reasons following reports that he lied about his education and work experience. Things went from bad to worse when he was accused of fraud and campaign finance violations.

So while it wasn’t surprising that Congress voted Santos out of office, it was still a tough blow for late-night TV hosts like Jimmy Kimmel. We’ve already heard Stephen Colbert beg to keep Santos in office. And over the weekend, Saturday Night Live took the its opportunity to say goodbye to the New York lawmaker.

Monday night was Jimmy Kimmel’s turn. After joking that he was forced to fire two of his writers because they had nothing to do without Santos in Congress, the host kicked to a tribute montage honoring George Santos’ contributions to late-night TV.

Seeing the George Santos clips from Jimmy Kimmel really puts into perspective how much material the congressman provided in such a short window. Whether it was his resume lies, finance violations, or odd press conferences, Santos gave Kimmel and late-night TV options.

The silver lining is that George Santos isn’t one to give up the spotlight so easily. He’s already taken to social media to accuse his former colleagues of various misconduct. And as Kimmel mentioned, reality TV shows are probably lining up to get Santos back on TV.

Maybe Jimmy Kimmel’s monologue won’t have to go too long without a Santos joke after all. But if this really is the last we see of Santos, don’t feel too bad for Kimmel. He still has Ted Cruz, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, and a handful of other lawmakers who provide plenty of material.
