Could one of the most powerful men in the world be headed to late-night TV? It may happen if the stars align for Elon Musk and The Daily Show.
Musk quickly made himself a primary target of late-night TV hosts like Seth Meyers, Stephen Colbert, and Jimmy Kimmel. The Telsa CEO's headfirst dive into politics created material around the election, and things have only escalated as Musk becomes increasingly involved in President Donald Trump's second term.
Like the rest of late-night, The Daily Show took notice and has had a lot to say. Host Jon Stewart even sliced his hand during a rant against Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency.
The viral clip made the rounds and eventually caught Musk's attention. When an X user suggested Musk appear on The Daily Show, the billionaire agreed under one condition.
"I will do it if the show airs unedited," Musk posted. Apparently, the DOGE creator is worried about his comments getting taken out of context or the Daily Show giving him a bad edit.
The Daily Show appeared to accept the terms. The show's official X account responded, writing "“@elonmusk we’d be delighted!”

Musk replied, adding another stipulation. He requested that the interview also stream live on X. According to Deadline, reps at The Daily Show have not received any confirmation that Musk will appear on a future episode.
A conversation between Musk and Jon Stewart would move the needle, with both sides tuning in expecting their guy to "win." But whether The Daily Show and Comedy Central would wan to give in to Musk's demands remain to be seen.
It wouldn't be Musk's first visit to late-night TV. He's previously been a guest on Real Time with Bill Maher in 2023, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in 2015, Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2013, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and The Daily Show in 2012, The Colbert Report in 2010, and Late Show with David Letterman in 2009.
