Since The Late Show with Stephen Colbert premiered on September 8, 2015, the show has been no stranger to controversy. After it was announced that The Late Show will be ending soon, some observers may have expected Colbert to pull back. However, based on Colbert continuing to comment on major political scandals, it appears that won't be the case.
While other talk show hosts talk about Donald Trump, like when Jon Stewart attempted to explain the bruises on the President's hand, Colbert has been willing to go further than his peers. With that in mind, it can be fascinating to see how Colbert reacts to Trump's scandals when they pop up. For example, it was interesting to see Colbert's reaction when Trump recently published a shocking social media post.

Stephen Colbert called Donald Trump's AI social media post 'insane' but 'factually correct'
From the moment that Donald Trump announced he was going to run to become the President of the United States in 2016, he has arguably been the divisive figure in the world. While Trump is loved by millions of people, he has just as many detractors. On October 18, 2025, many of the President's most passionate detractors took part in what was dubbed "No Kings" protests against him in a wide array of cities.
Never afraid to address his detractors, it was always obvious that Trump would react to the protests in some way. Still, a social media post that was published on the President's Truth Social account in response was very shocking in the grand scheme of things. Trump's account posted an AI-created video that showed him piloting a fighter jet and flying over people taking part in the "No Kings" protests. The AI version of Trump then could be seen in the video dumping a brown liquid that appeared to be sewage on the heads of the protestors.
On October 20, 2025, the YouTube account for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert published a video from the latest episode of his talk show that included a reaction to Trump's post. In the video, Colbert could be seen expressing why he found Trump's post to be "insane," but "factually accurate."
"There it is: King Trump crapping on America. Which is insane, though I will grant, factually accurate. This video was vile and violent and only proves the point of the No Kings march even more. What decent democratic leader would ever post a video of themselves [expletive] on peaceful protesters? He is a one-man hate march."
After making that remark, Colbert rhetorically asked if Trump has a talk show that could be canceled, in a clear reference to his own situation. "I mean, does he had a late-night show we can cancel?" Colbert then went on to comment on the other political figures who didn't call out Trump's controversial video.
