Jon Stewart has a royal explanation for Trump's bruised hand

Donald Trump's second term in office has created so many head-scratching moments, mysteries, and outright scandals that it's hard to keep track of them all. That includes the deep bruising that has appeared on his hand from time to time. Now, The Daily Show's Jon Stewart is sharing a new theory on why President Trump's hand is bruised.

Stewart used the "No Kings" protest as a jumping off point to dive into the mystery of Trump's hand. The late-night host used the first half of his monologue to applaud the crowds and push back against Republican-led efforts to dismiss the peaceful protests.

The comedian drilled down on the GOP counter that "Trump is not a king." Stewart entertained the argument, noting that Trump didn't have "the broken-down, inbred body of a king,
saddled with the exotic infirmaries of royalty."

The Daily Show then reminded Stewart and the audience of Trump's bruised hand and swollen ankles. But if Trump really were a king, then his inner circle and "minions" would dismiss such injuries, argued Stewart. He then played a clip of White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt attributing the bruising to handshaking.

It was enough for Stewart to drop the bit and respond. "Come on, come on," Stewart said.
"I've been in the business a long time. I'm not the president, but I've shaken a lot of hands. And I'm pretty sure it doesn't cause a gangrene," he added, drawing a laugh from the Daily Show audience.

Stewart seemed convinced that maybe Trump is a king after all, and that explains the bruising. It forced the comedian to take a deeper look, pulling out a copy of the Declaration of Independence to compare the colonists' grievances against King George to what Donald Trump has done since retaking the White House.

"Exotic infirmaries of royalty" weren't the only similarities Stewart found between Trump and a king. The late-night host pointed to Trump's trade policies, law enforcement efforts, and more to paint him as a monarch.

"Look, maybe Trump isn't an all-powerful king, the kind who can do whatever he wants," Stewart commented. "But he's undeniably king adjacent, king-esque, moving for more. He's the imitation crab of kings right now. I can't believe it's not king," he concluded.

Clearly, Stewart wishes that the hand bruising was the only thing "kingly" about Donald Trump right now. But considering the mountain of evidence The Daily Show pulled together, there is a lot more in common between the American president, and that makes Jon Stewart very uncomfortable.
