A Saturday Night Live cast member shared details of a contentious encounter at a New York City restaurant. The comedian admitted she had to go the "I'm not a nobody" route to get some respect.
Saturday Night Live performers may hide behind wigs and costumes ever week, but they are still some of the most recognizable faces on television. No, the current cast members aren't exactly the mainstream stars that previous generations boasted. But the public likely knows the likes of Kenan Thompson, Colin Jost, and Bowen Yang.
Chloe Fineman found herself on the other side of the coin during a recent trip to a New York City restaurant. The SNL veteran posted to TikTok, detailing how her attempts to say hello to actress Demi Moore led to a confrontation.
Fineman noticed Moore after she and her sister had been seated. "There's several empty tables and I sit down, and then I look up and it's Pilaf little mouse, the celebrity dog of Demi Moore," Fineman said. "And I see Demi Moore and I was like, 'Oh, hi!' We've met once or twice and I've held Pilaf because Pilaf was backstage at an SNL show."
But staff at the Sant Ambroeus restaurant intercepted Fineman. "The manager sees me," Fineman shared. "I don't know, maybe I had no makeup on — did I not look legitimate enough for this empty room of Sant Ambroeus? And the guy's like, 'What are you doing here! Ma'am, come, come with me.'"
It was at this point Fineman chose to pull the "do you know who I am?" card. "I was like, 'Calm down. I'm not nobody. I'm on SNL,'" she said. "He was like, 'I don't care who you are. I treat everybody the same,'"
Fineman continued, saying the confrontation escalated with both sides accusing the other of being rude. The Saturday Night Live star also admitted it was a "Karen" moment but it doesn't sound like it's one she regrets.
