Saturday Night Live cast member debunks rumors, promises to stick around

Saturday Night Live is nearing the end of season 50, and with it, some changes around Studio 8H. However, one SNL cast member promises we haven't seen the last of them once the curtain falls on season 50.

The conclusion of any season brings about changes, whether its cast members leaving or shake-ups behind the scenes. Many SNL followers figure season 50 will be the perfect chance for some to say goodbye, whether its Lorne Michaels (probably not) or Colin Jost (new clues and all).

Bowen Yang found his Saturday Night Live future at the center of speculation following recently. An interview with the Wicked star created headlines quoting Yang as saying he'll leave Saturday Night Live "at some point."

Despite the very vague answer from Yang, it was enough to start the rumor mill that he'd be signing off next month. But Yang took the opportunity to debunk the rumors and provide clarity on his SNL plans.

"I will not be leaving any time soon," Yang said during an appearance on The View. Yang seemed a mix of amused and surprised that his otherwise innocuous comments created so much buzz.

The reaction could come down to a couple of different factors. Saturday Night Live has been off the air for a couple of weeks, so any news or semi-interesting comment from a cast member would get attention during a hiatus.

Then there's the relative lack of stories about anyone's future at Saturday Night Live. Experienced cast members like Mikey Day, Heidi Gardner, and Ego Nwodim seem like possible candidates based on their tenure. But they haven't publicly said anything to make fans believe the end is near.

But the biggest factor has to be Yang's popularity. He's a fan-favorite cast member who seems to come up with an iconic performance at least once a year. And as SNL's in-house J.D. Vance, Yang is expected to stay busy for the foreseeable future.
