Chloe Fineman has proven herself to be one of the best celebrity impressionists in recent Saturday Night Live memory. But that doesn't mean she's immune from falling on her face from time to time.
Fineman joined Saturday Night Live in 2019 and quickly stood out as a performer. Since then, she's been promoted to a repertory player and is among the most recognizable cast members on the show thanks in part to her celebrity impressions.
However, one attempt at a celebrity impression failed terribly for Fineman, and by her own admission. She shared the story on the red carpet during the Saturday Night LIve 50th anniversary special.
“Harry Styles is really bad,” Fineman said (per Deadline). “I did it and he was like at the table and was so devastated by how bad it was.”
The incident came in 2019 when Styles returned to Saturday Night Live to host and play as the musical guest. In fairness to Fineman, that was also her first year on the show. Maybe she wasn't as prepared to impersonate a world-famous celebrity to their face in the same way she may be willing to do so now.
Of course, Fineman's version of Harry Styles never made it on an episode of Saturday Night Live. But in an interesting twist, Styles has been played by an actor with a connection to Fineman.
Academy Award nominee Timothee Chalamet played Harry Styles during a 2020 sketch. Chalamet played the pop star as he visited the "Dionne Warwick Talk Show." Chalamet played up Styles' signature style and swagger, earning approval from the studio audience.
Chloe Fineman's most popular SNL impression just may be as Chalamet. She has done in multiple times on the show and during interviews on other programs.
Chalamet's version of Styles didn't exactly blow anyone away even if the crowd cheered it. So one has to wonder just how badly Fineman botched her attempt that it left Styles "devastated."
