Jimmy Kimmel returns to late-night TV tonight with an eclectic lineup
By Matt Moore
Jimmy Kimmel Live! will get its Jimmy Kimmel back on Tuesday night. The late-night TV host will return from his annual summer hiatus.
A few years back, Kimmel negotiated a new contract with ABC that gives him a summer vacation every year. The show goes on without its namesake thanks to contributions from celebrity guest hosts that have included Anthony Anderson, Jennifer Lawrence, and Dua Lipa among others.
Kimmel's summer hiatus began on the week of June 24. The 2024 set of guest hosts included Martin Short, Ryan Reynolds, and Hugh Jackman. A lot happened while Kimmel was away, but now he's ready to dive headfirst into the world of politics, celebrity, viral moments, and more.
It all starts on Tuesday night with a brand-new episode. And Kimmel's guest lineup is a sign of what to expect now that the host is behind the desk.
Who's on Jimmy Kimmel Live! tonight, September 3?
First up, Jimmy Kimmel welcomes one of the biggest pop stars in the world to the show. Billie Eilish will sit down as the first guest on tonight's Jimmy Kimmel Live! episode.
Eilish released her album Hit Me Hard and Soft back in May. Along with it came a string of hit singles cementing her place in Billboard history. She'll be on with Kimmel to promote her upcoming tour in support of the album, set to start September 29 in Quebec City.
Then, Adam Kinzinger will chat with Kimmel. The former member of Congress is coming off an appearance at the Democratic National Convention where he appealed to his fellow Republicans to support Democratic nominee Kamala Harris.
Kinzinger and Kimmel should have an easy time talking. Both love to criticize and mock Donald Trump (and a few other GOP "stars"). Expect Kinzinger to give his perspective on the 2024 election, the war in Ukraine, and more.
Tonight's musical guest is Vance Joy. The singer/songwriter is out promoting his "'Dream Your Life Away' Anniversary Tour," which hits the Hollywood Bowl on September 8.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs tonight, September 3, on ABC at 11:35 p.m. ET.
