Nikki Glaser’s Golden Globes monologue earned high praise from a late-night TV legend

Comedian Nikki Glaser had the difficult task of hosting the Golden Globes on January 6. But her monologue earned rave reviews, including from a late-night TV legend.

Glaser is by no means a newcomer in the comedy world, even if the Golden Globes acted as an introduction for many watching at home. She's been building her career for years and recently got a boost from her performance at Netflix's roast of Tom Brady. Glaser even said she was in talks to host a Saturday Night Live episode in season 50.

So it was no surprise to see Glaser looking confident and in control during her Golden Globes monologue. The jokes landed well in the room full of A-listers. But perhaps more importantly for Glaser, the monologue caught the attention of late-night TV royalty.

"Nikki Glaser is very good at this," Jon Stewart tweeted. The Daily Show host gave Glaser's performance his stamp of approval about 40 minutes into the start of the Golden Globes.

Glaser happily accepted the compliment and shared her reaction during an interview with Howard Stern:

"That's a perfect compliment from someone who I look up to so much and value his opinion so greatly. So that was just like 'OK, done here, good OK.' I can't argue with that. I'm not going to tell Jon Stewart he's wrong. I'll accept that compliment."

What award shows has Jon Stewart hosted?

Jon Stewart's opinion carries so much weight because of what he's done in his storied career. Beyond hosting The Daily Show for years, he also knows how challenging it can be to host an awards show.

Stewart hosted the Grammy Awards in 2001 and 2002. He then hosted the Academy Awards in 2006 and then again in 2008.

The comedian has also emceed countless benefits and charity events, including the Night of Too Many Stars. Stewart has even hosted WWE's SummerSlam. So if he thinks Nikki Glaser is good at hosting, then like she said, we can't argue with that.

As for Glaser, expect to see the 40-year-old at a few more award ceremonies in 2025, just as a nominee instead of a host. Her stand-up special Someday You'll Die earned a Critics Choice Award nomination and a Grammy nomination.
