It hasn't been easy for Jimmy Kimmel to find much good news during the past few months. But reports of a falling out between Donald Trump and Elon Musk appeared to brighten the late-night TV host's spirits.
Kimmel's disdain for Donald Trump has been obvious for a decade at this point. The comedian's emotional reaction to Trump's victory in the 2024 election suggested Kimmel wasn't going to have an easy time adjusting to what's ahead.
The 2024 election also put more of a spotlight on Elon Musk. He cozied up to Trump and became a fixture not only in Mar-a-Lago, but in Kimmel's monologues. It led to another public feud for Kimmel and a bigger target for his punchlines.
Now, things between Trump and Musk are reportedly on the rocks. Kimmel gladly covered the story which indicates Trump is annoyed with Musk's constant presence at Mar-a-Lago.
The Tesla CEO rents a private cottage at Mar-a-Lago that is 300 feet from Trump's living quarters. "Elon's bedroom is closer Donald's than Donald's is to Melania's, just to give you an idea," Kimmel joked.
Kimmel couldn't help but fantasize about what life must be like at Trump's Florida home/country club. The host grinned his way through the scenario:
"Imagine being a member of Trump's gilded Cheesecake Factory golf course/wife graveyard and you come down hungover after a night of listening to Lara Trump screeching karaoke. Now you're at the omelet station trying to get a spoonful of wet scrambled eggs from that sweaty pan full of hot dog water and the world's richest EDM dork corners you to mumble about Star Trek for an hour because he lives there now."
It's a vision that just left Kimmel tickled, unable to wrap his head around why the richest man in the world would essentially move in with Donald Trump. The late-night TV host joked that it would be $83,000 well spent for any Mar-a-Lago member who got to see Musk on the grounds.
Reports also say that Musk will walk in to any meeting going on at Mar-a-Lago, whether he was invited or not. Kimmel compared Musk to Kramer busting through the door on Seinfeld.
If this really is the end of the Donald Trump-Elon Musk relationship or just a bump in the road remains to be seen. But no matter which way it goes, you can be sure Jimmy Kimmel will enjoy watching it all play out. And along the way, expect Trump and Musk to have something to say to the late-night star.
