Jimmy Kimmel vs. Elon Musk: Comedian fires back as feud ignites
By Matt Moore
Jimmy Kimmel has a brand new feud on his hands. The late-night TV host used his monologue to respond to Elon Musk after the X owner called Kimmel an “insufferable nonsense propaganda puppet."
Kimmel is no stranger to feuds, especially with some of the most high-profile people in the world. Kanye West, Ted Cruz, Aaron Rodgers, George Santos, and of course, Donald Trump have all taken shots at the Jimmy Kimmel Live! host. The comedian almost always responds and makes the most of his nightly platform that reaches millions of people.
Elon Musk jumped in the proverbial ring with Kimmel following the host's election reaction. Kimmel's emotions overwhelmed him as he predicted a second Trump term would be disastrous for the country. He certainly wasn't alone in the sentiment, as other late-night hosts expressed some of the same concerns.
But a teary-eyed Kimmel apparently caught the attention of Musk. He posted to X, calling Kimmel "an “insufferable nonsense propaganda puppet." Kimmel wasted no time in responding on Thursday night.
"At least my children like me," Kimmel snapped. He followed that up by calling out Musk's hypocrisy for suggesting he was a "propaganda puppet."
"The guy who paid people a million dollars a day to vote for Donald Trump is calling me a propaganda puppet." Kimmel didn't stop there, calling Musk "Kermit" and simplifying Twitter to nothing more than "literally a propaganda machine."
Kimmel went on to echo the "every accusation is a confession" refrain heard so often in criticism of the right. "If I spent two weeks trying to come up with a four-word description of Elon Musk, I don't think I could do better than 'insufferable nonsense propaganda puppet.'"
The comedian finished up his response by suggesting that Musk will become nothing more than a puppet for Donald Trump. If that's the case and Musk gets a role in the Trump administration, Kimmel will have all the more reasons to keep taking shots.
Musk is unlikely to back down either. Look for both men to use their respective platforms to trade barbs as Jimmy Kimmel finds himself in yet another public feud.
