Jimmy Kimmel goes off on Lauren Boebert and MAGA's Cameo takeover
By Matt Moore
The MAGA world has sent Jimmy Kimmel's head spinning once again. This time, it comes as Lauren Boebert and others from Donald Trump's orbit continue to join the video-sharing platform Cameo.
Cameo allows customers to pay celebrities for personalized messages in short video clips. There are hundreds of reality TV stars, athletes, actors, comedians, and more on the site. Now, there is a sitting member of Congress. Or at least there was.
Kimmel's monologue on Tuesday night shared the news that Representative Lauren Boebert of Colorado joined Cameo. Interested parties had the option to send Boebert money for a birthday wish, motivational message, or just to say hello.
Of course, Kimmel couldn't let any Boebert news go without referencing her infamous theater antics. The comedian made some not-so-subtle jokes about the Colorado Republican.
But apparently, Boebert's Cameo career was short-lived. Kimmel revealed that her page disappeared not long after going live. The most likely explanation was that the account would trigger a House Ethics Committee investigation based on rules related to outside income and appearance fees.
Kimmel wasn't exactly sad to see Boebert's Cameo page end before it began. The comedian tossed in another jab, suggesting the lawmaker try "OnlyFanatics."
Jimmy Kimmel breaks down the MAGA crowd on Cameo
Lauren Boebert's attempt to join Cameo sent Jimmy Kimmel down a rabbit hole. The late-night TV host shared that he did some digging on the platform's "Politics" page and found a collection of "MAGA grifter types."
"There is something kind of refreshing about the fact that these people don't even pretend to be doing jobs anymore," Kimmel said.
Matt Gaetz, Sean Spicer, Roger Stone, and George Santos are among the Trump-adjacent personalities available for hire. Of course, Kimmel is very familiar with Santos' account after spending a few hundred dollars pranking the disgraced former lawmaker.
Now, Kimmel has a new favorite in former Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio. The comedian showcased some of Arpaio's Cameo skills, which definitely lack in the charisma category. But to Kimmel's surprise, that hasn't stopped people from paying for more videos.
Kimmel called the Cameo clips a perfect holiday present for a loved one. He may have been sarcastic, but Kimmel must think MAGA's Cameo takeover is a gift to him.
