Jimmy Kimmel admits it's a 'no-brainer' that Trump is Time's Person of the Year

Donald Trump added another honor to his resume this week when Time magazine named him the 2024 Person of the Year. Even the presiden-elect's enemy Jimmy Kimmel had to admit it was a "no-brainer."

It is the second time Trump has earned the recognition from Time magazine. It's been well-documented that the president-elect puts a lot of stock in to the honor, so one has to imagine that he's thrilled with the designation.

Jimmy Kimmel's monologue on Thursday night recapped the story and shared a look at the cover featuring Trump's image. "Sadly, there's no one left to roll it up and spank him with it," Kimmel joked in a nod to the Stormy Daniels scandal. "Maybe Elon will do it for him, I don't know."

It would be fair to assume Kimmel would be annoyed by Time giving Trump the honor, considering past honorees have been activists, scientists, and other world leaders with a little more popularity on the world stage.

Instead, Kimmel had to admit there wasn't really an alternative. That's because it all comes down to the criteria Time uses to make its judgment.

Time gives the award to the person who that had "the biggest impact for good or for ill" each year. "That's [Trump] all right," Kimmel said. "It was a no-brainer in every sense of the word."

Jimmy Kimmel recapped Trump's history with Time Magazine

Jimmy Kimmel, like others, knows that Donald Trump has a thing for Time magazine. The late-night host took a deeper dive into Trump's history with the publication.

In 2013, Trump predicted Time's demise after it excluded him from its list of the 100 most influential people. But Kimmel noted that Trump called it a "great honor" when Time put the future president on the cover.

However, Trump lashed out later that year when he wasn't named Time's Person of the Year. His tune changed in 2016 when he did receive the honor.

Chances are that Trump and Time aren't done with each other. So be on the lookout for an update from Jimmy Kimmel sometime over the next few years.
