It’s no secret that President Donald Trump is not a fan of Jimmy Kimmel Live! and its host, Jimmy Kimmel. President Trump has made his dissatisfaction in Kimmel’s late-night show well-known, and called upon ABC to cancel Jimmy Kimmel Live! on multiple occasions.
So perhaps it’s of little surprise that President Trump has once again taken aim at Kimmel, this time calling out the long-time late-night host in the most unexpected of ways: a midnight newsletter sent to subscribers of the MAGA Blitz.
In an email obtained by The Daily Beast, President Trump singles out Kimmel ahead of his State of the Union address via the MAGA Blitz as he urges Kimmel to keep his name out of his mouth.
“Did you see it? Ratings-starved hack Jimmy Kimmel is back at it again. He’s on his failing late-night show-which, by the way, has terrible numbers, just total disaster numbers-trying to mock YOU and our movement,” the message began with a dig at Kimmel’s late-night viewership numbers, which have been a consistent point of discussion for President Trump.
Trump’s newsletter continued by alleging that Kimmel would have no career at all without Trump – this despite Jimmy Kimmel Live! launching years before President Trump ever ran for office. The newsletter proceeded to take issue with how Kimmel has laughed off “the greatest political moment in the history of our country,” with his “tired jokes.”
“The poor guy just LOVES to have my name in his mouth. Because he knows that without Trump, HE’D HAVE NO CAREER AT ALL! He thinks he can sit in his Hollywood studio and laugh at the greatest political movement in the history of our country. He thinks his tired jokes can stop us,” read the newsletter.
From there, the conversation moved onto the forthcoming State of the Union address set to take place on Tuesday, February 24.
In promoting his forthcoming address, President Trump’s newsletter urged fans to rally against Kimmel by letting their voices be heard… through donations which came with an exclusive offer.
“While he’s busy reading a teleprompter for a tiny audience of coastal elites, I’m getting ready to address a massive crowd of MAGA PATRIOTS at the State of the Union. But before I take that stage next week, I want to send a message so loud it shakes the foundations of Hollywood. I need millions of MAGA Patriots to step up today and show Jimmy Kimmel that his words have NOTHING on MAGA, and that this movement will forever have more support than he could ever dream of! I’m going to do something I don’t usually do but I’ll make an exception on this beautiful day… Join my MAGA Rally Blitz now & I’ll add you to my exclusive 2026 MAGA Membership,” the newsletter concluded.
Kimmel has spent the last week off the air in reruns with ABC keeping most of its shows, both in late-night and primetime, off the schedule so as not to compete with NBC’s coverage of the 2026 Winter Olympics. As a result, Kimmel has not yet responded to the email circulating, though we imagine that will soon change as Kimmel will be back with new episodes beginning the Monday before the State of the Union.
It’ll be interesting to see if Kimmel addresses President Trump’s call for MAGA Blitz members to rally against Kimmel and show him “that his words have NOTHING on MAGA.” We imagine Kimmel will react in some manner, but with how quickly the news cyle moves it’s possible Kimmel will have something new and more pressing to discuss by the time Monday rolls around.
