Over the last several weeks, Jimmy Kimmel has revealed several fascinating facts about the history of his Jimmy Kimmel Live! talk show. For example, he revealed that he used to pray that his talk show would be canceled, and he stated that ABC never should have hired him to host a talk show to begin with.
Even though there was a time when Kimmel wanted his talk show to end, he is no longer the person who wants his late-night series to end. Instead, it has been President Donald Trump who has repeatedly called for Jimmy Kimmel Live! to be taken off the air. After Trump recently renewed his calls for ABC to take the talk show off the air, Kimmel reacted and called the President out.

Jimmy Kimmel called Donald Trump a 'snowflake' amid their ongoing late-night talk show feud
As a March 2024, The Hill shows, Donald Trump and Jimmy Kimmel have been publicly feuding with each other for many years now. On Nov. 20, 2025, Trump started a new chapter in that long battle when he called for Kimmel to be fired in a Truth Social post.
"Why does ABC Fake News keep Jimmy Kimmel, a man with NO TALENT and VERY POOR TELEVISION RATINGS, on the air? Why do the TV Syndicates put up with it? Also, totally biased coverage. Get the bum off the air!!!"
That same day, the YouTube channel for Jimmy Kimmel Live!'s talk show uploaded Kimmel's response to Trump. During a monologue on his show, Kimmel's response began with him describing how unbothered he was to learn that Trump was calling for him to be fired again. As Kimmel explained, his wife told him about Trump's post, and he responded by simply saying, "Oh." Then, Kimmel moved on with his day by making his kids breakfast like nothing had happened.
From there, Kimmel pointed out that Trump published his Truth Social post only minutes after an episode of his talk show ended. Assuming that meant that Trump had been watching live, Kimmel joked that the President was one of the regular viewers who "keep us on the air, ironically.” After bringing up Trump accusing him of having low viewership numbers, Kimmel claimed that the President is an expert in getting poor ratings.
"[Trump] keeps saying we have bad ratings. And you should listen to him, because if anyone knows about bad ratings, it's that guy. President Trump's approval rating is tanking. Plunging to a new low. A new low, even among Republicans."
Before Kimmel finished discussing the topic, he labeled Trump a "snowflake" for repeatedly calling for his firing. After remarking on Trump's many attempts to argue that Jimmy Kimmel Live! should be canceled, the talk show's host made the President an offer. While addressing the camera, Kimmel offered to walk away from his talk show if Trump gave up being the President.
“I have honestly lost count now of how many times the president has demanded I be pulled off the air. I mean, talk about a snowflake, this guy. Every five weeks, he flips out and wants me fired… If you're watching tonight, which I presume you are, how about this? I'll go when you go, OK? Let's be a team. Let's ride off into the sunset together like Butch Cassidy and the suntanned kid. And until then, if I may borrow a phrase from you, quiet, piggy, OK?”
On top of Trump repeatedly calling for ABC to end Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the President has also recently posted on Truth Social about his desire for NBC to fire Seth Meyers. After Stephen Colbert's talk show was canceled, the talk show's host hinted that he believed that Trump's posts about him could have been connected to CBS's decision to end its The Late Show franchise.
