Seth Meyers: A Closer Look at Rudy Giuliani’s latest conspiracy theory
By Matt Moore
Rudy Giuliani has an explanation why the FBI raided his apartment and it has nothing to do with his alleged lobbying efforts in Ukraine. Instead, the former New York City mayor and lawyer to President Donald Trump says its a conspiracy orchestrated by President Joe Biden. Late Night with Seth Meyers decided to take “A Closer Look.”
It was reported that several electronic devices were confiscated from Giuliani’s home and office in New York City. Giuliani is adamant that any of his dealings in Ukraine were done on behalf of former President Trump.
However, it doesn’t look good for Giuliani. After years of public gaffes, meltdowns on cable news, and strange statements surrounding the election, the raid is by far the most legal trouble Giuliani has found himself.
Giuliani was a staple in “A Closer Look” over the past couple of years. It was only right that Seth Meyers started off May with another investigation into the former mayor’s latest conspiracy theory claims:
In A Closer Look, Seth Meyers can’t take Rudy Giuliani seriously
Seth Meyers makes it clear that Rudy Giuliani lost all credibility a long time ago. Since aligning himself with Donald Trump, Giuliani has wasted the good will he earned in New York City. Yet as “A Closer Look” pointed out time and time again, the former mayor couldn’t stay out of the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.
The FBI raid on Giuliani’s apartment is the latest example. What Meyers finds most interesting is how Giuliani seems to be implicating Donald Trump in the scheme. The Late Night host jokes that Trump isn’t the best character witness for someone facing corruption charges.
When it comes to who was behind the investigation, Giuliani has trouble keeping his story straight. Meyers cites a Giuliani tweet indicating that the Department of Justice, under President Donald Trump, searched his iCloud account in 2019.
So maybe it’s not a Biden-led conspiracy after all? “A Closer Look” didn’t have to dig too deep to debunk this one. But Rudy Giuliani has proved to be the gift that keeps on giving when it comes to material, so don’t expect this to be the last Seth Meyers reports on Rudy.
