Late night TV: 5 guests to watch this week – February 22, 2021
By Matt Moore
Late night TV is back this week! After a majority of shows took last week off, fans will have close to a complete selection of shows this week featuring some terrific guests.
Last week, fans went without The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Late Night with Seth Meyers, and others. But Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Daily Show with Trevor Noah were more than up to the task of carrying the load with new episodes.
Things return to regularly scheduled programming tonight. After hosts get you caught up on the news with their monologues, it will be time for the guest interviews.
This week features a nice mix of actors, musicians, comedians, and politicians. So no matter what you’re looking for, you’ll find it somewhere on late night TV. Here are Last Night On’s picks for the five guests fans should be most excited to see.
Late night TV guests to watch: Teyonah Parris
Start your late night TV week with one of the stars from television’s biggest show. WandaVision‘s Teyonah Parris is on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Monday, Feb. 22.
Parris already had an impressive resume before taking on the role of Monica Rambeau for Disney+’s WandaVision. She has been seen on television in Mad Men and Survivor’s Remorse while adding award-nominated performances on film in Dear White People and Chi-Raq.
Now she stars as Rambeau, the adult version of a character first introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe by 2019’s Capitan Marvel. Fans of the comic books know that big things are ahead for Monica Rambeau. And if you’re a fan of Parris in WandaVision then you’ll be happy to know she has a role in Captain Marvel 2.
We know that Jimmy Kimmel is a big comic book and superhero fan, so he’ll definitely be excited to talk to Parris about WandaVision. Expect questions about how she was cast and the struggle to keep some of Marve’s biggest secrets to herself.
Late night TV guests to watch: Billie Eilish
Fans will get to see a different side of singer Billie Eilish on Tuesday, Feb. 23. She will be the featured interview guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Typically, Eilish is closing out late night TV shows with a musical performance. But in a testament to her popularity and success, Eilish will go for a one-on-one interview with Stephen Colbert on late night’s biggest show.
Eilish has a lot to talk about. She was nominated for four Grammy Awards including Record of the Year and Song of the Year for “Everything I Wanted.” On The Late Show, she’ll also be promoting her new documentary Billie Eilish: The Worlds’ a Little Blurry examining the creative process behind her album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?. It will release on Apple TV+ on Feb. 26.
Late night TV guests to watch: Tom Holland
Another star from the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes to late night TV this week. Catch Tom Holland on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday. Feb. 23.
Holland is currently filming the third Spider-Man movie for Marvel. There have been all sorts of rumors surrounding the sequel to Spider-Man: Far From Home that suggest it could be one of the MCU’s craziest movies. Don’t expect Holland to spill any details, no matter what his reputation may suggest.
But on The Tonight Show, Holland has a couple of other projects to promote. He’ll next be seen in the crime drama Cherry. It reunites him with Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo. The film hits theaters on Feb. 26 and Apple TV+ on March 12. Then, Holland co-stars with Daisy Ridley in the long-awaited sci-fi action film Chaos Walking. That movie is set for a March 5 release.
Holland is one of the most popular actors in the world and always gives an entertaining interview. His Tonight Show appearance should increase the spotlight on his non-Marvel projects.
Late night TV guests to watch: Kevin Garnett
Basketball superstar-turned-actor Kevin Garnett will make another late night TV appearance this week. You can see him on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday, Feb. 24.
Garnett played 21 seasons in the NBA for Minnesota Timberwolves, Boston Celtics, and Brooklyn Nets. His Hall of Fame career included winning the 2008 championship with the Celtics.
Garnett has been very busy since retiring in 2016. He has become a successful analyst for TNT and in 2019, received praise for playing a fictionalized version of himself in the Adam Sandler film Uncut Gems. To promote the movie, he appeared alongside Sandler on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.
Now he’s back with Jimmy Kimmel to promote a new project. Garnett’s memoir KG: A to Z: An Uncensored Encyclopedia of Life, Basketball, and Everything In Between will be released on Feb. 23.
Late night TV guests to watch: Randall Park
Bookend your week in late night TV with another WandaVision star. Randall Park stops by A Little Late with Lilly Singh on Thursday, Feb. 25.
Park first joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2018’s Ant-Man and the Wasp as FBI Agent Jimmy Woo. The actor brought a bit more comic relief to the character, making him a fan-favorite. Those fans were thrilled when Woo appeared in WandaVision and became an important part of the series.
Beyond WandaVision, Park has a few other things he could discuss with Lilly Singh. He currently plays himself on the NBC sitcom Young Rock. Upcoming, he lends his voice to PAW Patrol: The Movie and is expected to have a role in Aquaman 2.
