Anthony Mackie proved he’s one of the biggest Boba Fett fans on the planet

Anthony Mackie may be one of the biggest stars in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but it is the far away galaxy of Star Wars that the actor really loves. He proved that last night on The Late Late Show with James Corden.

After multiple supporting appearances in the MCU as Sam Wilson/The Falcon, Mackie is set to star in his own Disney+ series alongside Sebastian Stan’s the Winter Solider. Many fans assume the show will lead to Mackie taking over the mantle of Captain America as suggested at the end of Avengers: Endgame.

Despite James Corden’s best efforts, Mackie did not confirm any Captain America rumors last night on The Late Late Show. Mackie denied and used misdirection to throw Corden off the scent like any good MCU actor does when pressed about Marvel secrets.

Mackie was much more excited to talk about Star Wars when it came time for “Late Late Show and Tell.” The Outside the Wire star proudly shared not one but two Boba Fett-inspired helmets.

Anthony Mackie wanted the role of Boba Fett for Disney+

Given how The Mandalorian has reignited fans’ love for Boba Fett, Mackie’s pair of helmets is even more enviable. The actor joked that he was desperate to play the infamous bounty hunter for Disney+ but in the end, the role (appropriately) went to Temuera Morrison.

But since Mackie is already in the Disney family and how Star Wars projects love cameos, maybe he can find himself opposite Boba Fett in a future episode of The Book of Boba Fett. If that happens, there is a good chance Mackie will add a third helmet to his collection.

Star Wars memorabilia has become a recurring theme on “Late Late Show and Tell.” Just last week, Liam Neeson showed off the lightsaber he used as Qui-Gon Jinn in Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace.
