Liam Neeson showed off his lightsaber on The Late Late Show with James Corden

Liam Neeson appears ready to jump into battle as Qui-Gon Jinn at a moment’s notice. The actor showed off his famous lightsaber during a recent appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden.

Neeson portrayed the Jedi Master in 1999’s Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace. Along with Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi, the character was one of the few consensus bright spots in a movie that had its fair share of issues.

Neeson reprised the role in voice only for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker last year. It was proof that even 20 years later, Qui-Gon Jinn still held an important place in Star Wars history.

The recent announcement that McGregor will return as Obi-Wan in a Disney+ series, joined by Hayden Christensen (Anakin Skywalker), led some fans to wonder if Neeson would have a role to play. For his part, the actor stated he’d jump at the chance to return as Qui-Gon Jinn. On The Late Late Show with James Corden, Neeson showed that he already has his reliable lightsaber ready to go:

Perhaps choosing Qui-Gon’s lightsaber as his “Late Late Show and Tell” item was another way of Neeson angling for a role in Kenobi. Then again, how many other notable props could he have? The phone from Taken? His film resume doesn’t exactly lend itself to many collectibles.

If Neeson did return as the Jedi Master, it would undoubtedly add hype to what is already one of the most anticipated shows in all of television. Be it through flashbacks or as a Force Ghost, fans would love to see Neeson interact with McGregor one more time. Better yet, Qui-Gon appearing to Darth Vader may be what Star Wars fans really want to see.

We’ll have to wait and see if any such announcement comes through from Disney. In the meantime, fans can continue to speculate and know that when/if he gets the call, Liam Neeson is ready.
