The Daily Show with Trevor Noah announced the winners of its first ever Pandemmy Awards

On Sunday night, the entertainment industry was focused on the Primetime Emmy Awards. But another award show was also waiting in the wings: The Pandemmys. The Daily Show announced the winners of its inaugural award show celebrating the “greatest achievements of the coronavirus pandemic.”

Emmys’ host Jimmy Kimmel may have used the term “Pandemmys” on Sunday night but chalk it up to parallel thinking. A few days earlier, Trevor Noah used the term for The Daily Show‘s latest award show parody.

Categories included “Best Cure,” mocking President Donald Trump’s various suggestions on how to defeat COVID-19, and “Best Karen,” celebrating the women who stood up against mask, social distancing, and quarantines.

Here are the winners of The Daily Show’s Pandemmy Awards

The best part of the Pandemmys was that the power was in the hands of the people. Fans of The Daily Show could go online and have their voices heard rather than be subjected to the opinions of an academy or anyone else.

Trevor Noah announced the winners on Monday night. Watch the results below and see how they stack up against your votes:

As Trevor Noah noted, there was an impressive number of votes cast in the Pandemmys. Clearly, fans had some strong opinions on “Best Kevin” and “Best Foreign Film” among the other categories and wanted to make sure they were heard.

Big winners on the night included the I Am Legend Karen, President Trump’s disinfectant cure, and President Trump again for his infamous ramp walk. Some tough categories but it’s hard to argue with the results.
