The Daily Show summed up the Republican National Convention’s message on night one

Team Trump was confident that the Republican National Convention would outshine its Democratic counterpart all while spreading an uplifting and optimistic message. But as The Daily Show with Trevor Noah demonstrated, that plan quickly fell apart.

All of late-night television had something to say when the RNC kicked off on Monday night. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert was particularly struck by the doom and gloom message, suggesting that the Republican Party had gone full cult. It wasn’t exactly the theme that had been advertised going into the event.

Anyone expecting the GOP to deliver a message of optimism about the state of the country didn’t have to wait long to be let down.

President Donald Trump, members of his family, and his allies railed against the Democratic Party and their apparent vision of the present and future. The Daily Show sat back until it was over and tallied up the ways the GOP thinks you will die if you don’t vote Trump:

The Daily Show continues to put out campaign ad-style videos

At just under one minute long, this video from The Daily Show with Trevor Noah is perfect for sharing on social media. It encapsulates everything people were talking about after night one of the Republican National Convention and ridicules the GOP’s message.

It is another example of The Daily Show releasing videos that have the look, feel, and effect of campaign ads. There is no secret about how the late-night show wants the Nov. election to go. So if it can help with these videos, fans should expect even more over the next 70 days.

Chances are you’ve seen some of The Daily Show‘s other productions. They’ve targeted President Donald Trump’s morals, his intelligence, and his competence to hold office. The show has targeted President Trump’s critics-turned-supporters in the Republican Party. And of course, The Daily Show has had plenty to say about the president’s friends at Fox News.

You have to look pretty hard to find any message that is optimistic and uplifting from the Republican Party right now. The Daily Show will keep looking and in the meantime, keep pumping out videos like these ones.
