Bill Maher’s monologue addressed both presidential candidates

The campaign strategies of President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden couldn’t be more different. One is desperate to be front and center while the other has largely stayed out of the spotlight. And that’s exactly how Bill Maher wants it as he explained in his Real Time monologue.

Even with the pandemic ongoing, President Trump has been eager to restart his rallies and get in front of a large crowd. But without that option, he’s resorted to turning White House press conferences into campaign speeches and giving one-on-one interviews like the one he did with Jonathan Swan of Axios for HBO.

Meanwhile, former Vice President Joe Biden has made less public appearances and has seemed willing to let President Trump do all the talking. And when Vice President Biden has given an interview, a gaffe or questionable comment has come with it more often than Democrats would like.

On Friday night’s Real Time, Bill Maher explained why both candidates are doing exactly what he wants for a favorable outcome in the Nov. election. It may not be perfect but Maher just wants to see a change in the White House anyway he can get it.

Bill Maher wants Donald Trump to keep talking and Joe Biden to stay quiet

Late-night television never has a shortage of material when President Donald Trump is in front of a microphone or sitting for an interview. Yet no amount of ridicule from Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, or Bill Maher has kept the president from adlibbing, improvising, or stumbling his way through a speech. There is a reason why Seth Meyers says a camera and a microphone is all you need to give the president a cognitive test.

And it is exactly what Maher wants with less than 100 days to the election. The Real Time host compares the president to the shrug emoji and rips him over the “it is what it is” comment regarding the number of American deaths from COVID-19.

Former Vice President Joe Biden’s campaign strategy doesn’t sound all that admirable or inspirational. But again, it is exactly what Maher wants from the presumptive Democratic nominee. The less Joe Biden he sees and hears, the more confident Maher is that President Trump’s days are numbered. And even if that is the case, Maher isn’t confident that things will go all that smoothly. Stay tuned.
