Spider-Man actor Tom Holland took time out of his interview to give a birthday surprise to Jimmy Kimmel’s son Billy.

It’s not easy celebrating a birthday while in quarantine. So to help make his son Billy’s third birthday special, Jimmy Kimmel called in a favor from Spider-Man himself, Tom Holland.

Billy Kimmel’s story is well-known among Jimmy Kimmel Live! fans and for some who don’t watch the show. The ABC host’s emotional description of Billy’s birth and diagnosis with a rare congenital heart defect in 2017 was seen by millions. It also started a nationwide discussion on healthcare and inspired the Kimmel family to support children’s hospitals around the country.

Given how his life started, it’s heart-warming to hear updates that Billy Kimmel is happy and healthy. Fans who follow Jimmy Kimmel on social media and during social distancing have no doubt seen plenty of Billy. He’s also been seen dressed as Spider-Man a number of times.

Lucky for Billy, his dad has a pretty good relationship with Spider-Mah actor Tom Holland. It also helps that Holland appears to be one of the nicest and most generous actors in Hollywood. Put together, it was the perfect recipe for a birthday surprise.

It wasn’t much but the smile from Billy revealed he knew it was Peter Parker on the other side of the video chat. And in case he wasn’t sure, his sister Jane made sure to announce it. From there, the birthday boy may have been a little too shy to talk to his hero.

Typically when Jimmy Kimmel wants to surprise someone, it comes in the form of a prank. But it’s good to see he took a break from that for his son’s birthday. There are no guarantees the same policy will be in place on Halloween, though.

The small but meaningful gesture is another example of how Tom Holland has used his Spider-Man role to spread happiness outside of movie theaters. While promoting Spider-Man: Far From Home, Holland and his co-stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Zendaya visited kids in the hospital while in costume.
