3. Ewan McGregor

When you are a star in the biggest film franchise of all time and in one of the most highly anticipated movies of 2020, you should be considered for hosting Saturday Night Live. That is the case for Ewan McGregor. (Warning: Rise of Skywalker spoilers ahead!)

McGregor closed out 2019 with a voice cameo in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. He reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi and will do the same in a new series for Disney+. Fans have been begging for more of McGregor’s Obi-Wan since the prequel trilogy ended in 2005. Through a newfound appreciation for the movies (and memes) McGregor’s character is as popular as ever.

The actor will turn to the dark side in 2020 when he plays the villain Black Mask in Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn). The movie will also see Margot Robbie return to the role of Harley Quinn while also providing big screen adaptations of comic book characters like Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell).

And while Robbie would make a solid pick as host, given her other film Bombshell and her successful turn as host in 2016, it’s high time McGregor gets his shot. The Scottish actor certainly has the skills necessary given his experience playing a wide range of characters and performing in front of a live audience.

McGregor on SNL would attract comic book fans, Star Wars fans, and probably all of r/prequelmemes. If nothing else, it would finally clear up the confusion with James McAvoy.
