Jimmy Kimmel couldn’t help but celebrate the announcement that Sarah Huckabee Sanders was leaving her position at the White House.

Late night has a lot of favorite targets for comedy in President Donald Trump’s White House. And while most don’t stick around in their jobs for too long, they still manage to leave a lasting impression. That is the case for Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Jimmy Kimmel.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders has been on the receiving end of a lot of late night comedy bits. She’s been played by Aidy Bryant on Saturday Night Live, had her comments scrutinized in “A Closer Look” on Late Night with Seth Meyers, and has been “interviewed” on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. But Jimmy Kimmel Live! has been especially fond of using Sanders for material.

Kimmel has not been shy about criticizing and mocking Press Secretary Sanders. He previously called for her to be fired after she tweeted out a doctored video of CNN’s Jim Acosta. Kimmel has also referred to her as “Sarah Applebee Sanders” and “Sarah Hucka-B.S. Sanders” in the past.

So when President Trump announced that Sanders had resigned from her position, Kimmel had to give her a sendoff in a way that expressed how he truly felt about her. You can check out that tribute below:

After watching those highlights of Sanders in action, you’d have to imagine that members of the press are relieved to hear she is leaving the White House. Jimmy Kimmel probably finds it a little bittersweet. One the one hand, he gets what he has wanted in Sanders leaving but on the other hand, he loses a major source of comedy from Washington.

Regardless, Sanders has some left some pretty big shoes to fill. The Trump administration will now have to find someone willing to chastise journalists while barely ever holding any press conferences. The Trump White House has become known for the turnover of personnel so Sanders’ replacement will likely be on a short leash.

The next White House press secretary will have a difficult job as journalists follow calls for impeachment as well as prepare for the 2020 election. On top of that, Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ successor will have to deal with late night hosts like Jimmy Kimmel hanging on every word. Good luck.
