The best clips from Jimmy Kimmel Live’s long-running bit have been collected for 2018.

2018 was a very strange and busy year. A lot happened in the worlds of politics, sports, and entertainment. And while every late night show looks at these areas, no one does it quite like Jimmy Kimmel.

Kimmel has covered everything from White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders altering a video of journalist Jim Acosta to the World Series and his feud with actor Matt Damon. In both these cases, Kimmel probably had to express some restraint in not swearing or using any other profanities.

The late night host has had plenty of experience when it comes to censoring, after all. His show has been doing the segment “This Week in Unnecessary Censorship” for years now. Parodying the Federal Communications Commission’s crackdown on any content considered inappropriate, Jimmy Kimmel Live! takes it upon itself to bleep and blur television moments whether they need it or not.

Now that we are in the final week of 2018, shows are counting down their best moments or putting together montages of different bits. Kimmel has already begun celebrating the end of the year by declaring his pick for the viral clip of the year. Now he is celebrating the best of “Unnecessary Censorship” with the compilation video:

Regular viewers of the show definitely saw some of their favorite clips in that video, whether it was an imaginary “F bomb” or a children’s cartoon that needed a little extra blurring animation to make it ready for public viewing.

While this isn’t exactly the most high-brow concept when it comes to late night humors, it does fall in line with Jimmy Kimmel’s own sense of humor. He uses it to point out the fine line he is asked to walk as a comedian trying to appeal to younger audiences while also working for a network owned by Disney. The bit also shows Kimmel’s longevity in the crowded late night field as both he and “Unnecessary Censorship” look like they’ll be around for a lot longer.
