Ted Cruz called in President Donald Trump for a campaign rally and that gave Jimmy Kimmel an idea for Cruz’s latest television ad.

Ted Cruz may be Jimmy Kimmel’s favorite political target not named Trump. The Texas senator has been called out frequently on Jimmy Kimmel Live!since 2016. It all came to a head earlier this year in the “Blobfish Classic” basketball game between Kimmel and Cruz.

And while Cruz may have won the (ugly) hoops match, Kimmel continues to dunk on Cruz during any monologue he can. It’s not like Cruz hasn’t been picked on by other late night hosts. However, Kimmel seems to have a genuine dislike of Cruz.

Speaking of picking on Cruz, no one did it better than President Trump during the 2016 presidential election. Whether it was during debates, speeches, or press interviews, Trump blessed Cruz as “Lyin’ Ted.”

Those insults extend to Cruz’s wife and father in typical Trump fashion. So it was a little odd that Cruz called in Trump to appear at a rally as Cruz holds a narrow lead over his Democratic opponent Beto O’Rourke. That got Jimmy Kimmel thinking and he offered up the latest Cruz-approved message:

Laid out back-to-back-to-back like that, it’s hard to fathom how Cruz was able to bring himself to call in a favor for Trump. It is indicative of a few things, namely Trump’s continued influence over the Republican Party, Cruz’s character, and his concern about losing to O’Rourke.

Although not mentioned by Kimmel in the clip, a special shout out is in order for First Lady Melania Trump. In the clips used, we see how she gas made sure to embrace the Texas lifestyle with that denim shirt. And after her recent headwear made headlines, she rocks what can only be a custom “Texas” hat. Say what you want about the Trump’s, but they really care about hats.

We’ll find out soon enough if Ted Cruz gets the bump from President Trump and retains his seat in the senate. As Jimmy Kimmel points out, it will be an even worse look for Cruz if he calls in his bully for help but still falls short of re-election. Even if Trump has backed of Cruz, Kimmel shows no signs of slowing down.
