In some news that Stephen Colbert tells viewers they wouldn’t expect, Donald Trump is apparently pushing for abstinence-only sexual education.

There is undoubtedly a certain irony to be found in this news…

Last night on The Late Show, host Stephen Colbert revealed something he found interesting in recent headlines. Telling viewers it’s something they probably wouldn’t expect, Colbert says how Donald Trump is pushing for abstinence-only sexual education to make a comeback. “Well, I can think of some women who are pro-abstinence under Trump,” Colbert begins, heading into a take down of the president.

Obviously, it’s pretty humorous for Trump to spearhead a movement, given all of his scandals. With Trump pushing for organizations to promote the benefits of avoiding sex, Colbert couldn’t agree more. “The benefits of avoiding sex are real,” Colbert mentions. “It saves you hush money, your lawyer doesn’t get raided by the feds, and your wife will still talk to you when the camera turns off.” Additionally, Colbert points out how abstinence does reduce the risk of “producing another Eric [Trump].”

More baffling, it’s revealed that the Trump Administration has sunk $75 million into these kinds of abstinence-only education programs. Colbert can’t help but wonder how they could spend that kind of money to not give away free condoms. He mimes a speaker poking holes through condoms individually just to make them useless, telling people not to use them. Maybe that’s not what they spent the money on… but Colbert does bring up a very interesting question by asking what it does go to.
