Rumors are swirling that Maggie will be the next one to die on The Walking Dead because she has yet to renew her contract, but negotiations are ongoing.

One by one, The Walking Dead seems to be losing every one of its longtime characters!

Last night, the series broadcasted one of its most heartbreaking goodbyes yet. On the episode (SPOILER ALERT!), Carl Grimes succumbed to a zombie bite he had been afflicted with in the first half of the season. His death certainly proves that nobody on the show is truly safe, but which big names will be next to follow suit?

As Digital Spy explains, Lauren Cohan’s Maggie might be the next one on the chopping block. It’s noted that every single cast member as their contract for Season 9 in place except for Cohan. According to the article, Cohan wasn’t too thrilled with the salary she was offered, and has also signed on to star in a comedy pilot for ABC. This all seems to suggest that Maggie isn’t long for the world of The Walking Dead.

Still, for the Maggie fans holding out hope, showrunner Scott Gimple says her swan song hasn’t been written yet. “Well, these sorts of negotiations do happen all the time in television and we’re working on it,” he is quoted as saying. That may be true, but as time goes on, it looks less and less likely that there will be good news for Maggie’s future. Fingers crossed, everyone.
