Liam Neeson had some fun on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert by creating an audition tape for the role of Cupid, and it’s as bizarre as you’d expect.

Liam Neeson as Cupid? It seems insane, but it sure is funny!

The moment came about on Friday night’s Late Show with Stephen Colbert. For a mock sketch on the show, Neeson actually dons a silly-looking Cupid outfit, complete with wings and a bow-and-arrow. And with the most serious of dramatic expressions that we know and love Neeson for, the actor does his best to “audition” for the role of the love angel himself.

“I’m going to shoot this arrow right into your heart,” Neeson says at the start of the audition. Further instruction from the director has Neeson delivering his next line with more love. So that just prompts him to say, “No matter where you go, or where you hide, love will find you.” And he just goes into a series of rapid fire lines from there, only to be told that he’s coming across as too intimidating.

Finally, Neeson argues back that what he’s doing is right. He then cites the classic Sam Cooke song, quoting its lyrics about drawing back the bow to shoot an arrow into someone’s heart. I guess when he puts it that way, Cupid can be pretty violent…
