Bill Maher takes on sex scandals and Donald Trump in new monologue
By Jeremy Dick
Bill Maher kicked off last night’s Real Time with a scathing new monologue addressing the newest sex assault allegations and Donald Trump’s China trip.
And Bill Maher has done it again!
Each week, Maher delivers arguably the funniest monologue of all the late night comedians. When Real Time airs on Fridays, I know I’m guaranteed to have a good laugh that night. For last night’s show, Maher delivers once again.
First, Maher addresses the elephant in the room that is the rash of celebrity sex scandals hitting the news. It’s truly the “Year of the Dog” with the nonstop number of sexual assault and harassment accusations hitting so many different famous people. He starts with Roy Moore of Alabama, who’s being accused of having sexual relationships with teenage girls. Maher laments out top Republicans are speaking about against the women. “Sean Hannity had to apologize for saying it was consensual,” Maher explains, “and then had to explain to the other guys at Fox News what consensual means.
It leads to another point Maher makes, which is that the outrage of these things doesn’t seem to be bipartisan. No liberal came out to defend Harvey Weinstein or Kevin Spacey. But then you see people like Moore and the crotch-grabbing president Donald Trump, and it leads Maher to piont this out: “We arrest our alleged rapists, they elect them!”
