Dana White says Conor McGregor can beat Floyd Mayweather
By Jeremy Dick
Dana White stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live to speak about the Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather boxing match to say McGregor has a great chance to win.
Can UFC star Conor McGregor beat undefeated boxing champion Floyd Mayweather at his own game? Dana White is convinced that it’s very likely to happen!
Recently, White came as a guest onto Jimmy Kimmel Live to speak about the big fight. Kimmel is quick to bring it up, pointing out how such a fight has never happened in sports history. One of the UFC’s biggest stars is stepping into the boxing ring to take on a retired, undefeated superstar. Like White adds on the show, it’s the “biggest fight in combat sports history.”
Certainly, many people feel that McGregor isn’t going to last in a fight against “Money” Mayweather. While McGregor is a beast in the octagon, the game is a little different when you’re in the squared circle. Mayweather has the edge with this being his “home turf”, so Kimmel asks White what many of us are thinking… does McGregor stand a chance?
Without hesitation, White declares that McGregor’s chances are great. Boxing might be Floyd’s thing, but there are too many other factors for us to consider, as White explains:
"“Floyd Mayweather’s going to be 41 years old this year. If there is a kink in that armor, it has been with Southpaws. Conor McGregor is a Southpaw, he’s 28 years old, and he hits like a truck.”"
White goes on to explain how when McGregor punches someone, it’s going to put them away. He’s got 12 rounds to land some of those punches on Mayweather. If he does, then that could be all she wrote for the boxing champion.
