James Corden tries to make sense of the Oscars on Late Late Show

Late Late Show host James Corden tries to make sense of the craziness that was the Oscars from this past weekend, including the controversy surrounding Best Picture.
The 89th Academy Awards might have been one of the craziest awards shows ever, and of course, all of the late night talk shows were trying to make sense of it. Of course, Late Late Show host James Corden had to chime in.
Corden started Monday night’s opening monologue by talking about the craziness that was the Oscars. In case you missed it, while giving out the award for Best Picture, there was a mixup with the cards that had everyone believing that La La Land had won the award. A few moments later, it became clear that Moonlight had actually won Best Picture, leading to a very awkward moment.
On Monday night’s episode of The Late Late Show, Corden showed the audience a picture of the crowd reaction during the mixup. The reactions from celebrities like Meryl Streep, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Matt Damon were absolutely priceless. You can watch the whole opening monologue in the YouTube video below.
One of the funnier moments from the opening monologue was a cheesy joke about PricewaterhouseCoopers, which Corden called “PricewaterhouseBloopers”. Since the joke didn’t land, Corden was given an envelope stating that there was a mixup and he was given the wrong joke, much like how the Best Picture scenario unfolded.
