4. Tara and Heath unleash a trove of sand walkers

Flashing back to Tara and Heath’s scavenging run, the two wind up on a blocked bridge. A truck carrying a large amount of sand has lost its load right in the middle. Sticking out of the sand pile is a duffel bag which could contain valuable supplies. Tara sees this, and starts tugging at it to get it out of the sand.

Heath channels Peter Parker and senses danger nearby, however. He tells Tara to stop pulling on the duffel, but it’s too late. A violent tug removes the bag, but also unleashes a large amount of walkers. Apparently a whole group of them had been buried inside the sand and the fresh flesh nearby has gotten them pretty hungry.

So this answers how the two of them were separated. There are too many zombies, and before you know it, there’s an undead barrier between them. Heath covers her as best he can with his limited ammo, but the walkers nearly turn Tara into a personal buffet. She has no choice but to go over the bridge, which she does with Heath’s encouragement. It sends her downstream and much farther away, but it definitely saves her life.
