Aubrey Plaza (Delaware)

The deadpan comedian Aubrey Plaza is originally from Wilmington, Delaware. She graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and began her career in entertainment as an intern. But she honed her skills with comedy and improv by performing at the Upright Citizens Brigade theater and found herself getting some small roles on screen. Once people actually get to see Plaza, they usually like her.

So when Plaza showed up to audition for Parks and Recreation, it’s not surprising she was cast. But here’s the thing— her character, April Ludgate, wasn’t even yet in existence. But she was so beloved by the producers that a role was specifically written for her, so she could be on the show. April is certainly one of the breakout characters on the show, solidifying Plaza as one of the best actresses on television.

Now, you’ll regularly see the talented and beautiful Plaza show up in various film and TV roles. She even voices the legendary Grumpy Cat as seen in the Lifetime channel movie Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever. Given the cynical nature of the April Ludgate character which made her famous, it certainly seems like a perfect casting choice.
