Sarah Silverman (New Hampshire)

Controversial stand up comic and actress Sarah Silverman is no stranger to controversy. Her comedy routines will poke fun at various social taboos and sometimes gets her into trouble. But despite the negative controversy she sometimes brings about, Silverman is a beloved personality whose performances are adored by many.

Silverman’s been around for a while, and you can see her in many different movies. She appears in flicks like School of Rock and A Million Ways to Die in the West. She provides the voice of one of the main characters in the animated movie Wreck It Ralph. With a voice almost as distinguishable as her look, it’s very difficult not to recognize her even when she does voice-overs in other projects.

But it’s Silverman’s TV work that shines the most. She created and starred in her own series on Comedy Central which would earn her an Emmy nomination. She didn’t win that time, but her subsequent work on television would eventually produce better results. Based on her songwriting in appearances she made on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Silverman finally nabbed two Primetime Emmy Awards.

It’s all not a very bad deal at all for someone who started life as a shy, quiet girl from New Hampshire.
