Gillian Anderson (Illinois)

Veteran actress Gillian Anderson is originally from Chicago, Illinois. She would relocate often throughout her formative years, gaining an interest in theater and acting work in her teenage years. She wanted to pursue this further as an adult, moving to New York. Having no luck there, she would move to Los Angeles, California.

There, Anderson started to see some casting results. At the start, she was refusing to do any television roles. However, despite some initial success, Anderson found herself struggling to get more work. This was forcing her to open her mind up to more to doing television, and we all know how this turns out.

Anderson would star on the popular 90s sci-fi series The X-Files with David Duchovney. She plays Dana Scully, an FBI agent and major skeptic of anything paranormal. Her skeptical personality contrasts with her partner, Fox Mulder, who truly believes that something is “out there”. Their chemistry is incredible and results in the series lasting for many years, even seeing a revival in 2016. Multiple feature films are also spawned from it.

Horror fans may also additionally appreciate Anderson for her role in Hannibal. She plays Dr. Du Maurier on the now-defunct series.
