6. Yet another big actor is banned from the series

Adrien Brody has been a big name actor for many years. One of his greatest years was probably 2003. His fame led to him becoming a guest host for the first time on Saturday Night Live. This first time was also his last, as well, according to Lorne Michaels. There’s apparently a reason you’ll never see him on there again.

The musical guest on Brody’s episode was reggae singer Sean Paul. To introduce the musician, Brody put on fake dreadlocks and speaks in a stereotypical Jamaican accent. The joke lasted for only 45 seconds, but it made Lorne Michaels furious backstage. Needless to say, the actor had some explaining to do when he went to the back.

Apparently, Michaels particularly hates improvised jokes on the show. He expects the guests to follow the script, and it causes major problems with him when they do not. Acting like a Jamaican also comes across as a racist joke to some people, also making Michaels unhappy.

As you can guess, Michaels’ response was to ban Brody from ever appearing on the show again. To this day, the ban is still in effect and the actor hasn’t been seen on SNL since.
